Most people worry about the tower down the street. Dr. Milham spent thirty years pointing at something closer and far stranger. In North America the power grid sends its return current back through the earth itself, through a grounded Wye system that puts a wire from every transformer straight into the ground. That current does not politely stay there. It comes up through water pipes, through shower drains, through concrete slabs, through the rebar under your floor. Milham measured it at his own house every year for three decades and watched it climb. Europe does not have this problem, because their return current goes home on a wire.
